2008 Dec 25 1I disagree with all …
I disagree with all this “It’s the media’s fault” garbage. How about blame the MIRROR, not the MEDIA. More focus should be put on obesity, because for every UNDERweight woman/girl out there, there are 1000 more OVERweight ones. Want proof? The average American woman is a size is a 12-14. Plus sizes start at a 12. A woman of average heigh that wears a size 12-14 by BMI standards would be considered slightly overweight. So, the average woman is not average weight.Overweight IS the average.

okay charlene a. ruttenburg with the dove AD corporate machine. this video sucks and i recommend women watching this to beware of media manipulation- they sell us good self-esteem too so we can buy their products. (i noticed the woman in the mirror reflection was always the voluptuous one, why? who’s the demographic then?) a teen would find the females in the vid. beautiful still…did not find it effective for your “so-called” social awareness cause. i felt manipulated. thanks

2008 Dec 25 4well done!
But: …
well done!
But: you forget to mention that women are doing this because they think if they look like that, their life is going to improve.
Improve by a very nice man/boyfriend (for real, if you arent goodlooking you really dont get a (also goodlooking) boyfriend. A woman in this society is the pride of her man.
Thats why so many fat girls are single.
So, dont forget men in this subject! Men are also deeply influenced by the media.

2008 Dec 25 6Honestly, I wish I …
Honestly, I wish I had a flat stomach than a big chest. Only if I stick it in forcibly it looks flat. I am a 34 C and I wish my chest was smaller. My stomach is a little on the pudgy side. I am self-concious about it, and I will never wear a bikini or a two-piece swimsuit that shows my tummy. Sure, there’s girls who wish they had bigger boobs and they have a flat stomach. But, you know what? At least you can wear certain things without worrying about your gut bulging a little

2008 Dec 25 13in the end it is …
in the end it is not the media but the lack of idenity within the individual you allow whatever you want to accept in life. I once was plagued by so called media till i began to realyl look within myself through the Creator of the Universe and become liberated from societal fallacies

2008 Dec 25 15Its not just the …
Its not just the media, though. Its the fact that people buy into it. Women especially are so highly critical of each other for not meeting a certain standard and finding *the* perfect makeup color that will finally make them “beautiful”. Women need to stop the madness and be good to each other

it women complained about male chauvinists in the yesteryear, they’re doing it all for themselves today, but going one step further – sexualising not only themselves but other women as well.
take shows such as ‘blokes world’ for example, all the producers/directors of that show are females. also a variety of men’s magazines all run by women.
unfortunately sex sells..& women are the ones grabbing that idea by the balls (& literally)!!

tinybabyinfantjesus: for you info it’s not all men’s falt. Most womens’s mags are made by and ‘for’ women. Yes here are fatherless sons out there, but there are also alot of female dogs out there to! SO keep your sexistism to yourself.

Thanks for this! What truth. It’s horrible what media is doing to women’s self esteem these days. Thanks for helping to empower women and make them feel normal and pretty as they should feel.

Love this video! Soo inspirational. just shows that girls should just embrace their curvs and love them for themselves. Life is for living not for worrying about what your going to (or not) eat that day. Food is to keep you alive. So use it

We can't change the whole world, can we?
But we can make a difference in the life of one child. My husband and I have sponsored a boy from Indonesia for 8 years now. We've written him. He's written us. It's such a blessing to see his smiling face, holding all the goodies we send him. Over the years, we've seen the difference our contribution makes. He was a small frail looking boy when we started. Now, he has grown into a healthy young man. Our contribution helped him go to school and get an education, not to mention supplying the food for him and his family. We sent over gifts as well, just for fun.
You can experience the joy of helping someone in need by sponsoring a child today. Start a relationship and change a life today! Join me by sponsoring a child for $30/month. It's life or death for this child. Won't you give so they may live?
